You can’t really beat the view of fireworks bursting above the KL skyline at Vertigo since it’s perched on the 59th floor of Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur. The open-air rooftop bar with uninterrupted view of the capital allows you to see the fireworks in all its colourful glory. So don your most festive holiday outfit and dance to the beat of the guest DJ.

St Regis Kuala Lumpur
Skip the masses at KLCC. St Regis Kuala Lumpur is organising its own fireworks display — the longest in the city with 600 shots fired into the night sky. Dining-wise, the Astor Room is throwing a ‘Havana Nights’ themed gala dinner while rooftop bar Crystal — where the 10-minute fireworks event will take place — welcomes revellers with stellar cocktails and a solid line-up of dance tracks. Private tables and cabanas are available for group reservations.

Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur
Watch stunning fireworks crackle and pop at MOKL’s AQUA Restaurant & Bar, which offers an extensive barbecue spread under the stars and entertainment by DJ Kiddo. Front-row VIP tables to catch the fireworks display are available from 10pm at RM3,888 for groups between eight and 12 guests, while the VIP Tables are priced at RM1,400 for two to four guests. If the dance floor is what you’re after, there’s also a Countdown Party taking place at the pop-up Platinum Lounge overlooking the park at Grand Ballroom with guest DJ De Raj and DJ Frannie Luv.

To usher in the New Year on a full stomach, Thirty8 features an elaborate New Year’s Eve dinner buffet that includes dishes such as dim sum, freshly shucked oyster, Vietnamese blue swimmer crab, Canadian lobster and caviar, lobster bisque, Wellington beef, whole roasted lamb gigot and the hotel’s signature chocolate cake. You will, however, need to fork out a bit more for the KLCC view but the spectacular fireworks display is worth the splurge.
