Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel

Less time in the kitchen means you will have more opportunities to mingle with your loved ones (and huddle around the dessert station). The hotel’s hi-tea iteration offers a bevy of Indian staples to get you in the Deepavali spirit — expect mutton varuval, okra masala, dhalca tadka and vegetable pakora — without scrimping on international options. Make room for sushi, barbecued seafood, curry noodles, pizza, pasta and a sure-winner among the kids, grab-and-go popcorn. Speaking of indulgent afters, do not leave without tucking into deep-fried athirasam, courtesy of India’s famous sweet shop Luxury Mithai; an assortment of laddoos and coconut candy; as well as ice kacang prepared on the spot.

The Meen Moilee is also not to be missed. It is prepared using basic Indian ingredients such as mustard seeds, fenugreek, ginger and turmeric, served in a coconut milk-based curry.
