If the high number of Covid-19 cases are putting you on edge, it may be better to lay low this Valentine’s Day. But that doesn’t mean your plans are for naught. Let your loved ones know how much they mean to you by surprising them with something sweet. These treats are great to show appreciation for friends and family too.

Keju by Carmen
You’ve heard of breakfast in bed, but how does dessert in bed sound? Dial up the romance with Keju by Carmen’s Heart & Roses set, which is loaded with brownies, meringue kisses and macarons (among other treats) alongside an assortment of berries. A savoury variety is also available, featuring cranberry cheese paired with an array of fresh fruits, honey and crackers. While the platters can be ordered as is, the upgrade — inclusive of a reusable tray, bottle of red wine and two wine glasses — sets the romantic scene for you without additional hassle.

Heart & Roses, RM350; Platter in Bed, RM590. Feb 11-20. Order online here.

Bray Bakery
The spirited team at Bray Bakery is championing young bakers by letting them lead the way in the kitchen. The youngest of the lot, Elise (18), who is chasing her dreams of becoming a pastry chef, has crafted Bray’s limited-edition sourdough macarons for V-day. Sandwiched between the speckled shells are tangy passion fruit curd and fragrant rose jam — a much-appreciated departure from the usual cloying flavours. Alternatively, if buttery pastries bring more delight, Bray also has a box of assorted croissants up for grabs.

RM28 for a box of six macarons; RM40 for a box of four croissants. Order here.

Baker Next Door
Handpicked and air-flown from Japan, coveted Awayuki white strawberries top Baker Next Door’s limited-edition Valentine’s Day dessert. Dubbed Sweetie Pie, the treat is constructed with a strawberry cream cheese base, white chocolate and their signature digestive crown. Take it up a notch by opting for the bouquet set, presented with romantic pink roses, frilly eustoma and white spray roses assembled by florist Witchwood. Pre-order 48 hours in advance for the bouquet.
