Ferrari pranced home proudly after the Paris Festival Automobile International, where its Monza SP2 was named Most Beautiful Supercar of the Year 2018. The festival, now in its 34th year, honours the artistry and engineering of the motoring industry with a four-day exhibition of exceptional cars and concepts, as well as awards for the year’s shining stars.

A panel of expert judges accorded the title to Ferrari at the Les Invalides (formerly Hotel National des Ivalides) in Paris before 600 guests. The Ferrari Monza SP2k, and its predecessor SP1, are the forerunners of the marque’s new Icona concept inspired by its most evocative competition cars of the 1950s. The Monza SP2, in particular, is a modern interpretation of a timeless style, paired with the most advanced technologies of our time to achieve the highest performance possible.

News of the win was immediately followed by poetic descriptions of the winning model’s aesthetic, and the designers at the Ferrari Style Centre are said to have crafted a design so pure and forms so elegantly minimalist, that they could be illustrated with a single pencil stroke. Th e resulting fluidity, a departure from the extreme styling of the Prancing Horse’s recent track cars, produced an exceptionally clear narrative: that of a car born to deliver pure driving pleasure and exuberance behind the wheel.
