Luxury hotel The Library in Koh Samui caters for book lovers

A reading-centric resort that’s also a member of the Design Hotels network.

If the dream is to go on holiday so that you can spend time reading, make it come true in neighbouring Thailand. Located along Koh Samui’s Chaweng Beach, The Library’s stunning bibliotheque anchors the property in great style. With over 1,400 books, it provides a satisfying alternative to modern distractions. Owned by Samui native Kasemtham Sornsong and created with designer Tirawan Songsawat, the beachfront hotel’s expansive grounds provide ample space for guests to flourish, each area representing a blank page on which to write their story.

With just 46 cabins, The Library is not your typical monolithic hotel complex. Wondrous geometrically shaped buildings are scattered across an expansive lawn, with structural highlights such as a red-bottomed swimming pool and a glass-encased gym. In keeping with the architectural minimalism, the interiors feature white walls, red floors, simple furniture and the occasional Oriental artwork.

When hunger strikes, indulge at one of the hotel’s original dining experiences. Opt for afternoon soirées, chill island music and a refreshing cocktail at the Beach Bar or the Drink Gallery, and after the sun sets, take a starlit stroll to The Page for a gourmet dinner of old-kingdom Thai cuisine amid a gentle sea breeze.
