Hilton KL’s snowskin range is back for a limited time, including the sweet and savoury Blue Moon as well as the all-time crowdpleaser, musang king durian. This year, the hotel has collaborated with local fashion designer Christy Ng for a special mooncake box embellished with Malaysia’s national flower, paying tribute to the nation’s homegrown pride and resource. The versatile design can be repurposed as a body bag with the addition of a handbag strap.

Snowskin with salted egg custard paste

The salted egg craze is showing no signs of waning soon. Mandarin Oriental KL has incorporated this popular ingredient into their snowskin collection, apart from the usual musang king durian and matcha red bean paste. Artist Samantha Cheah, who assumes the moniker Yue Yue, is responsible for the gift box, which is inspired by the display of orchids within the hotel’s premises. The orchids are portrayed in a delicate embroidery on a royal purple fabric, while the iconic Mandarin Oriental fan emblem forms the shape of a full moon.

Almond-baked skin with pandan, cream cheese salted yolk and chestnut

This year, master dim sum chef Lo Tian Sion from InterContinental’s Tao Chinese Cuisine, experiments with different mooncake flavours while catering to the health-conscious. The result is an almond-baked skin mooncake with pandan, salted yolk cream cheese with a chestnut at its core. Designed in a delicate flower shape, the mooncake is uses high-fibre almond bulbs for its skin.
