They say the pen is mightier than the sword for a reason, and all great storytellers need a great weapon to wield. For filmmaker Wes Anderson, a master at turning words and feelings on paper into pictures on the silver screen, only one brand will do — Montblanc.
Last year, the house tapped the American director to produce a short film to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the emblematic Meisterstück pen. Anderson designed a model of his own, named the Schreiberling (meaning “scribbler” in German). Now, owning that pen has finally become a possible reality.
The writing instrument is launched alongside a kit that includes a notepad, ink cartridge refills and an architectural ruler. The packaging — a lime green tin with red interior lining — recalls Anderson’s passion for colour as a pillar of storytelling.
The Schreiberling mimics the compact design of “baby” pens from the 1910s and 1920s, a look reminiscent of Montblanc’s archives. The green lacquered barrel is matched with a yellow base and
a red-tipped cap printed with the Montblanc logo. A scribble by Anderson is engraved on the 18-carat white gold nib. As a reference to the filmmaker’s birth year, only 1969 units will be available.
