This limited edition commemorates the pivotal introduction of 9S about 25 years ago and symbolises the continued evolution of the movement crafted in Shizukuishi, the spiritual home of Grand Seiko mechanical watchmaking. The town’s name is appropriately poetic as it translates to “water dripping on stone”. The scenic beauty of this area is enhanced by nearby Mount Iwate, an imposing snow-capped peak that emerges from surrounding clouds at daybreak. The contours of these clouds inspire the SBGH311’s silver-coloured dial. Its 37mm case houses the Hi-Beat Caliber 9S85, which mirrors the original SBGR001’s diameter from 1998.
