If you dabble in the world of independent watchmaking, you would know that acquiring an MB&F is a famously difficult endeavour. While the price floor is high — CHF 60,000 (or around RM320,000) is considered the lower end of the spectrum — having the funds does not guarantee a piece. In fact, those joining the waitlist are warned of a multi-year-long queue even before their Legacy or Horological Machine goes into production.
Aware of this predicament, the watchmaker launched its MAD Editions in 2021 to offer its fantastical timepieces at a more affordable price point. These have resulted in the coveted MAD 1, and most recently MAD 1s and MAD 2 models that can be acquired through a raffle to give everyone a fair shot. It was down to the luck of the draw, but even so, thousands have tried without success.

That said, MB&F is celebrating its 20th anniversary with two special raffles, offering a total of 20 pieces to be won. Best of all? Each watch comes courtesy of the brand.
The first raffle is exclusive to the its Tribe members (existing owners of MB&F), who have been supportive of the watchmaker from day one. They will be automatically entered into a draw and stand a chance to win one of 10 LM101 Longhorn 20th Anniversary pieces. Featuring key elements of previous Longhorns — a reference to its distinctive long lugs — the special edition boasts a luminous sunburst rhodium-plated dial with black subdials and distinctive blue hands.
Flip it around and wearers will be able to admire the striking movement hand-finished by award-winning independent horologer Kari Voutilainen. Printed on the sapphire crystal caseback is a text that reads “Fortune Favours the Bold” — a reminder of the rewards that can be reaped for those who take a chance.

The second raffle is open to a broader circle of fans, specifically those who have participated in previous MAD Edition raffles. Their names will also be automatically entered into the draw, this time for a special MAD 1s 20th Anniversary timepiece. Ten lucky winners will take home the latest iteration of the MAD 1s, featuring a slimmer case and a Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 movement. The colourway matches its sleek Longhorn counterpart, with Roman numerals dressing up the hours and minutes cylinder. The caseback bears the same “Fortune Favours the Bold” message.
The draws are set to take place in October and will be supervised by a bailiff to ensure fairness. Best of luck!
