When it comes to the brand with the star, everyone knows its pinnacle of luxury is underpinned by the letter “S”. Denoting its highly luxurious S-Class series of vehicles, it takes its name from the German word sonderklasse (special class), now abbreviated to just “S-Class”. A complete range of its flagship class was launched in Kuala Lumpur recently.
Over five days and four nights, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia feted its clients, top dealers and a handpicked coterie of guests to a dazzling spectacle of world-class automotive excellence, comprising engineering, design and, of course, the finer things in life. Gourmet cuisine, the finest champagnes, a live orchestra and more all came together to celebrate the arrival of the new S-Class family to town, which comprises the Mercedes-Benz S 450 L AMG Line, Mercedes-Benz S 560 Cabriolet, Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe and, what made even the elite audience that night catch their breaths a little, the Mercedes-Maybach S 560.

“The S-Class family is the definitive statement of luxury in its purest form,” said Mark Raine, vice-president of sales and marketing — passenger cars of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

With the launch of this exclusive collection, we proudly underline our position as a leading lifestyle luxury brand in the automotive segment.”
It was in this light that Options, the weekly luxury pullout of The Edge, partnered Mercedes-Benz Malaysia on the third night of the celebration to bring together a select group of guests who would appreciate the magnificence, opulence, beauty and performance of the S-Class. The verdict by the evening’s end? Simply sonderklasse, of course.

Special bars by Perrier-Jouët, Martell and Asahi were set up in a dedicated lounge area just outside the main event area

The Electric Orchestra, led by Datuk Mokhzani Ismail, music director of RTM, provided the evening’s music while singers Sharizan Borhan and Celist QingQing rendered all-time favourite hits such as Fly Me to the Moon and Getaran Jiwa
