Recollecting memories of indulging in decadent mooncakes along with piping hot tea after a chatty reunion dinner can feel somewhat bittersweet for those who celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival and have not seen their families in a long time. But don’t let that stop you from letting your loved ones know you're thinking of them this season. Whether you're hosting older family members who crave flavours of yesteryears or gifting friends with an adventurous palate, this year’s line-up will be sure to please nonetheless.

Le Méridien KL
The idea of a happy hour need not be constricted to just a session at the bar. Le Méridien’s Exquisite Bold & Boozy Snow Skin Gems turn your favourite liquors into edible snow skin morsels, which you can enjoy in the company of loved ones while moon-gazing. Go Italian with a Prosecco-Raspberry Limoncello or partake in a berried ritual of Rum Flavoured Chocolate Ganache & Dried Strawberries or ‘Ying Tao’ Red Cherry infused in VSOP brandy.

The crew at EQ serves the fruit chilled — as it should — in dainty portions covered with snow skin. More unusual flavours await, from Lotus with Osmanthus and Mandarin Peel, Black Sesame with Walnuts and Almond to Blueberry with Rose and Dark Chocolate. A Musang King version caters for those who haven’t got their fill of the king of fruits last season.

Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur
In a special collaboration between Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur’s Chinese restaurant Yun House and award-winning bar Bar Trigona, the hotel is debuting two cocktail-inspired snow skin mooncakes in addition to their usual array of Mid-Autumn offerings this year. Whisky, trigona honey and cedar wood bitters make up the filling for the Old-Fashioned mooncake while the Judgement mooncake combines jackfruit, aged rum and triple sec. Other unique flavours include the baked Szechuan Ma La Mung Bean and Pu Er Tea Paste with Tangerine Skin mooncake.

KEJU by Carmen
If you’re looking for healthier treats to snack on during Mid-Autumn Festival, KEJU by Carmen’s Midnight Moon grazing platter provides plenty of sweetness with half the guilt. Fresh fruits, crackers, nuts, cheese and honey make up the bulk of this set, along with three Momoyama Rose mooncakes to celebrate the occasion. The box is great for gifting too: it opens to reveal a light-up cut-out of the love story between Chang’E and Hou Yi, one of the tales believed to explain the origin of the festival. Petite versions and individual servings are also available upon request.
