Johnnie Walker releases limited edition blend of "ghost" whiskies

The result is a smooth Scotch with the fruity sweetness of pineapple, rich notes of hazelnut and dark chocolate and a subtle smoky finish.

The limited edition whisky is a blend of eight treasured Scotch Whiskies including three "ghost" whiskies from the silent distilleries of Cambus, Pittyvaich and the Highland Single Malt, Brora (Picture: Johnnie Walker)

Whiskies from distilleries that have ceased operations and dwindled in stocks are part of the blend in the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Brora, a limited-edition series unveiled last year.

With the second edition of this special release, the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Port Ellen, connoisseurs can continue to savour the depth of character of whiskies from “ghost” distilleries.

The Rare series “delivers a fascinating glimpse into another world, exploring the unique, inimitable character of whiskies from a small number of iconic, closed distilleries that lend something very special to every drop of Johnnie Walker Blue Label”, said master blender Jim Beveridge.

He and his team evoke memories of smoky island single malts that were once carried on ships sailing from the Port Ellen distillery in Scotland by balancing its unique character with other rare whiskies.

Only one in 10,000 casks has the richness and character to exude the quality of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, famed for its intense, complex and smooth taste profile.
