On the morning of a friendly round between key sponsors of the MercedesTrophy tournament, players were greeted with gloomy skies and damp grounds from storms the night before. Yet the fairways of Tropicana Golf and Country Club were occupied by many a bright-eyed golfer, and it is on this course that the first three qualifying rounds of the marque’s highly anticipated competition will take place.
The event, now in its 35th edition, is open to customers of Mercedes-Benz, giving them a truly unique way to engage with the sport and the brand. The fourth round will be held in Forest City Golf Resort in Johor on June 4, and winners from each match will advance to play at the Els Club Desaru Coast course on June 19 for the National Finals.
More than 60,000 enthusiasts from 60 countries across the globe attend the amateur event in their respective nations every year, taking to the green to put their skills to the test. Each edition serves as an opportunity for the German manufacturer to refine this combination of luxury and style in a golfing event, which strives to exceed the expectations of eager participants with every iteration.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia vice president of sales and marketing Nadia Trimmel says, “With the return of MercedesTrophy, we are delighted to once again offer our esteemed customers an extraordinary experience that seamlessly blends the precision of golf with the timeless elegance of Mercedes-Benz. Building on this legacy, we remain committed to delivering a tournament that embodies the very spirit of refinement, sophistication and excellence. We look forward to welcoming our valued customers and creating lasting Mercedes moments together along the way”.
Sponsors for this year’s tournament include Crestlink, Desaru Coast, Dr Med, Luen Heng, Mercedes-Benz Financial, Oppo, Taylormade, The Edge and The Els Club Desaru Coast, alongside new additions 100Plus and Iroas. Representatives from each sponsor teed off together, accompanied by the previous MercedesTrophy World Final’s champions.

Datuk Mohd Nakir Shayuki, Hisyamuddin Salleh and Azuan Dahli, represented Malaysia last October in Stuttgart, Germany, battling chilly winds on an unfamiliar course.
Asked if they would want to return to the birthplace of Mercedes-Benz for a tee-off once more, Azuan said, “Of course, we’d want to go back. It was a wonderful moment, and an honour for us to play [in Malaysia], win here and to represent our country in Germany”.
The top three finalists of this year’s tourney will qualify for the MercedesTrophy World Final, taking place from Sept 28 to Oct 2 in Stuttgart. The first player to achieve a hole-in-one on either of two designated par-3 holes at each qualifying venue gets to drive home a Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ Electric Art Line, priced at RM379,888 on the road without insurance.
Sleek rides aside, attendees can participate in the Drive to the Major competition and score a once-in-a-lifetime, all-expenses-paid trip to The Open 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious and oldest golf championships, which will be held from July 16 to 21. To win, golfers must achieve the straightest drive or hit the ball closest to a designated line at the MercedesTrophy National Final Malaysia. Other prizes include exclusive Mercedes-Benz merchandise and a selection of novelty gifts from marketing partners.
