IOUpay, a fintech and digital commerce company, has announced the signing of award-winning and  international singer-songwriter Yuna as the face of myIOU. The latter is a new Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) service that offers both retail and e-commerce merchants flexible payment options for their in-store and online consumers.

The commerce company hopes that the engagement with Yuna, who has more than one million followers on social media, can encourage Malaysians to embrace BNPL as the new-age payment method, especially to weather through the economic storm brought upon by the pandemic.

Christopher Kok, Regional Commercial Officer of IOUpay said, “Yuna is chosen not only for her capacity as an international icon, but also for her ability to connect consumers with businesses with the aim of helping local businesses, particularly during the pandemic.

“As a key player in the BNPL industry in Malaysia, we are always on the lookout for partners who share the same vision as us. She is a perfect fit to join the myIOU family because her personal interest aligns with our business  goal to be one of the leading digital transaction processors in the booming cashless economies of Southeast Asia.”

The songstress will be representing the brand as an opinion leader of myIOU through campaigns and promotional activities across online and offline media platforms.

"My love for local brands is not a secret. I always share local products or services with my fans and family. This partnership with IOUpay came at a perfect time as I was looking for more ways to support our entrepreneurs during this trying time. To know that myIOU with its BNPL offerings can help both businesses and consumers to thrive during challenging times like this, I am proud to be a part of that. Together with IOUpay, I hope to educate as many people as possible, on the ways to leverage on BNPL,” she said.

Launched in June 2021, the app was designed to accommodate the ever-growing cashless market in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. With this easy payment, consumers can maximise their budget by splitting their purchase into two, three or six monthly payments at zero-interest.

Apart from partnering key industry players such as EasyStore, GoBiz by U Mobile, MYP1 and Razer Merchant Services, myIOU has also worked with prominent merchants such as Brooks Malaysia, Buffalo Malaysia, Kapten Batik, KK Supermart, Klingen & Erlesen, Manuka Australia, Sans Wellness and Teppanyaki Malaysia.

Malaysians aged 18 years and above who have access to any local credit or debit card can sign-up with myIOU and receive instant credit approval of MYR1,000 for purchases from IOUpay approved merchants.
