From chance encounters to golden opportunities and decisive moments, it is the spirit of conviction and courageous instinct that guides us through life’s unpredictability and rewards us with some of its sweetest moments. Influenced by these values, Chanel’s Chance fragrance has been endowing its wearers with its mystifying, astonishing character.
The maison now unveils the latest addition to this signature line, the dynamic and vivacious Eau Splendide: a masterful mix of fruity-floral luminance presented in an enchanting lavender hue. Since its inception 22 years ago by Jacques Polge, Chanel’s in-house perfumer-creator from 1978 to 2014, the Chance series has been reinterpreted in three editions: the refreshing green Eau Fraîche, soft and supple pink Eau Tendre, and fiery orange Eau Vive. The whimsical circular bottling shared by all four formulations emblemises the essence of spontaneity, resembling a bowling ball meant to barrel fearlessly through life’s game of ninepins.
“Each fragrance is unique, but they all express the same state of mind. There is no common composition, but something along the lines of a feeling and an emotion that each fragrance expresses — something very lively and direct,” expresses Olivier Polge, son and successor to the line’s originator.
The sprightly purple Eau Splendide blends a sparkling raspberry accord with crisp fruit, rose and violet, all encircling an alluring heart of rose geranium partly grown in the Chanel fields in Grasse, France. Married with the tenacious woodiness of cedar and white musk, touched by powdery iris, the olfactory synergy yields a sophisticated and joyful potion sure to bless those donning it with laughter and good luck.
