From its birthplace in Le Brassus, Switzerland, Audemars Piguet is bringing an enchanting showcase to Shanghai as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations. Titled The House of Wonders, the immersive pop-up invites guests to delve into the manufacture’s storied history and impressive innovations throughout the years. A comprehensive presentation aimed at delivering an interactive and educational experience to different audiences, the exhibition spotlights some supreme subjects that have played a huge part in shaping the brand.
It comprises a series of themed chambers. In the Clock Room, visitors are introduced to the concept of time with the help of a special tool as they travel through the snowy Swiss Jura mountains. Next, they move to the Gallery of Time, and then the Vault of Design and Astronomical Observatory. Observe the thoughtfully curated selection of archival documents, books and timepieces from different eras — some dating back to the company’s origins in 1875 — to understand the story behind each creation.

As the exhibition progresses, guests will be let in on the maison’s mechanical secrets. Three main families of complications — chiming, calendar and chronograph — are unveiled, revealing Audemars Piguet’s efforts in developing groundbreaking mechanics with each new invention. The Innovation Lab provides a glimpse into the future of watchmaking through abstracts of ongoing research and development. Finally, expect to discover some rare timepieces from the brand’s archives, alongside an assemblage of novelties demonstrating how age-old craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology come together today.
