Fans of eminent Japanese artist Takashi Murakami are familiar with his many collaborations with major players in the luxury world. His famous smiling flower motif, drawn in simple lines and most commonly depicted in a rainbow of colours, attracts both admirers of his ultra-saturated Superflat style and those who prefer to explore beyond the surface, seeking a deeper, human message behind a vibrant appearance.
Now, Murakami’s ability to infuse his kaleidoscopic creations with deep emotion and questions about the state of modern life has resonated with yet another prominent name that has long sought to spark creative discourse with the world’s boldest creatives — Dom Pérignon. A muse for several of the century’s visionaries and long-time supporter of the arts, the French brand has always favoured daring exploration and new expressions.

For the year-end season, the maison and artist have unveiled two limited-edition coffrets — one for Vintage 2015 and another for the launch of Rosé Vintage 2010. The dark bottles and boxes are reimagined with Murakami’s vivid florals, painting a contrast between simple elegance and whimsical radiance. Amid the blooming garden appear neon versions of Dom Pérignon’s iconic shield-shaped crest, complete with the signature cursive script.
Inside these bottles, the bubbly tells a story of nature and craftsmanship. From grape to glass, every drop is a refined interpretation of our natural environment, a translation of raw matter into human emotion. The theme of transformation is widely embraced throughout Japanese culture, and Murakami himself portrays it in visuals inspired by the earth’s humble blossoms but evolved for the contemporary eye.
