Adam! The Musical
Written, produced and brought to life by a huge team of local performers, Adam! The Musical is a wholly Malaysian story that almost anyone will find familiar. In this heart-warming musical, follow Adam and Mia as they navigate their “complicated” relationship amid meddling relatives, kaypo aunties and hilarious best friends to finally come to the most important question in the world — “Will you marry me?” And is happily ever after possible when you are … different? Adam! The Musical was originally commissioned by the Malaysian AIDS Foundation and debuted to critical acclaim in 2010. The current version is directed by Joe Hasham and features an updated story by Mark Beau de Silva.

Pentas 1, klpac. Until Sept 1, 8.30pm & 3pm. RM60.

Semalam di Malaya

Ushera celebrates the formative years of the country’s contemporary music industry and pays homage to the music scene of pre-independence 1940s and 1950s Malaya. In her past shows, Ushera not only evoked nostalgic memories among members of the older generation but also captured interest among the younger generation by transporting them to the bygone era of yesteryear Malaya. Most excitingly, the show will be backed up by a six-piece ensemble, with beautiful arrangements by musical director and producer Ganesh Bala.

No Black Tie, 17 Jalan Mesui, KL. Aug 30 & 31, 10pm. RM70.

The Music of Anak Malaysia

Comprising Lee Peng on piano, Eddy on saxophone and Terrence on drums, with special guests Tasneem on bass and Celist Qingqing on vocals, the JSY Band ushers in Malaysia’s 61st Independence Day with a cheerful, heart-warming singalong session. Join these charming young musicians and their repertoire of classic patriotic songs that we are sure to know and love.

Bobo KL, 65-1 Jalan Bangkung, Bangsar. 03 2092 5002. Aug 31 & Sept 1. 9.30pm. RM60.
