Bangsar’s Southern Rock Seafood invites oyster lovers over for a good time at its annual Oyster Festival on Sept 2. Ticket are priced at RM55 but an early bird offer of RM33 applies until Aug 30. The ticket price includes a flight of three oysters and Guinness or glass of white wine. Food offerings consist of some of the world’s finest oysters (starting at RM6 per piece), smoked salmon, fish and chips, seafood paella and mussels laksa.
During a recent media preview, the restaurant’s chief shucker, Josh Green, described the festival as a block party of sorts, where various outlets in Jalan Kemuja come together for the event. One of the partnerships is with C H Kho, award-winning bartender and household name in the cocktail scene, who owns Coley down the street from Southern Rock. Festival-goers can expect to find cocktails at the Oyster Festival, thanks to a collaboration with one of his bars, Pahit.
Besides that, there will also be a shucking competition judged by maestro Irish oyster grower, Edward Gallagher.
