At a glance: If you aren’t always scouring the internet for new places to dine at or don’t have a brigade of foodie friends to keep you clued in, chances are you would never stumble upon Undisclosed Location.
Granted, this particular patch in SS4 PJ is already beloved by hardcore foodies — traditionalists come to B&Best coffee shop for heavenly seafood noodles while the hipsters can’t get enough of Dou Dou Bake. But Undisclosed Location (along with the super-new Guan’s Kopitiam) is the latest to populate the stretch.
What to try: Suprisingly, tacos — albeit with an Asian twist — is the main thing to tuck into here. There are Malaccan Assam Fish, Varuval Chicken, Kimchi-Tempeh-Tofu and Lemon Chicken tacos as well as pastas, rice and cauliflower rice bowls and nachos.
If fusion equates to confusion for you, fear not, for two classic-style tacos are also offered: the OG Classic Beef and the Breakfast Taco, which is filled with scrambled eggs, chicken, avocado, sour cream, salsa fresca and jalapeno. If you come by for tea, the jumbo curry puffs always go down a treat, as do the indulgent cakes. Check out the chiller on your way in — there is always a good selection by the slice. But regulars always make sure to order the pretty, purple-hued Bubur Cha Cha cake.
Wash it all down with: All the usual cafe quenchers are available, from chocolate and mocha to coffee, tea and matcha. For something that’s good for the gut yet gives a little buzz, there’s kombucha too.
What else: Once the day cools down slightly, move to a table outside where you can feast your eyes on the hulking white statue of Theseus and the Minotaur. If you are tickled by the addition of bamboo leaves against certain erogenous zones, just know that this came about after a visit by the authorities who felt the historically-inspired work’s modesty needed a little more protection. Sacrilege, we say.
