Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the new generation of the E-Class, representing the brand’s innovative tradition, elevated with a new iconic look and intuitive new technology. What we would say is the most emotionally appealing representative in the Mercedes-Benz dream cars collection, this stunning new coupé reinforces its upgrade with expressive proportions, and a clear sensual design, making it more desirable than ever. Ahead of a full review of the new E-Class in Options once it's safe to do so, here is what you should know.

What we have
Launched internationally as a four-door sedan or two-door coupe and cabriolet, the model available in Malaysia is the E 300 AMG Line Coupé. Powered by a two-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that generates an output of 190kW (258 hp), 370 Nm of torque, the car is capable of an acceleration of 0-100km/h in just 6.4 seconds. The enhancement of Dynamic Select, 9G-Tronic transmission and Agility Control suspension offers an optimum ride comfort and driving stability.

Exterior style
The seductive design of the E-Class Coupé is a classic with a modern spin, and a huge step forward for Mercedes-Benz’s design evolution. Equipped with AMG Line, the E 300 Coupé includes the signature AMG styling for front and rear spoiler, diamond radiator grille with pins in chrome, and 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels.

A new highlight of the muscular rear section – its curves reminiscent of the CLS, somewhat – is the completely redesigned inner workings of the two-piece taillights. The E 300 AMG Line Coupé is further equipped with Multibeam LED that offers brighter and more natural illumination at night. Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus controls the LEDs by switching between low, partial main beam and main beam automatically.

Interior chic
Combining contemporary style with sporty luxury, the new E-Class Coupé is the only pillarless coupé in its class. The upper section of the dashboard appears to hover; it rests on generously proportioned trim elements that flow through into the doors. The exceptionally high-quality materials selected, together with the quality of craftsmanship employed, serve to emphasise the car’s sporty, stylish character and exude outstandingly high-class appeal.

Other luxurious features includes a panoramic sliding sunroof, ambient lighting with 64 colours and three-zones to create a host of individual highlights, and the legendary Burmester surround sound system. The car is also fitted with an entirely new, intelligent steering wheel, while control surfaces sport a high-gloss black finish, while the trim elements and surrounds have a silver shadow finish. It's all very slick, luxurious and modern, although we anticipate missing touches like the analogue clock when we're actually in the car.

Tech
The new E-Class Coupé is equipped with the latest generation MBUX multimedia System (NTG 6). The information in the instrument cluster and on the media display is easily legible on the large, high-resolution screens. An emotive presentation with brilliant graphics underlines the comprehensibility of the intuitive control structure. Dual 12.3-inch displays create a widescreen cockpit with a wide range of personalisation.

Safety
When the E-Class was first relaunched in 2016, it debuted several never-before-seen safety features that have since become standard. The new car obviously has the latest generation of Mercedes-Benz driving assistance systems providing cooperative support, resulting in an especially high level of active safety: the Coupé is able to react quickly and intelligently if the driver is unable to do so. The hands-off detection feature of the steering wheel now works on a capacitive basis, thereby enhancing user-friendliness when driving in semi-automated mode.

The E 300 AMG Line Coupé comes in at RM495,071.47 (on-the-road, sans insurance) and with Mercedes-Benz’s Step Up Agility Financing Plan, you could pay as low as RM4,288 for the new car. For more information or to place your booking, see here.
