World badminton champions Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei visited the Mamee Double Decker factory in Subang Jaya, Selangor today for a special cheque presentation ceremony.
The snack foods conglomerate presented the mixed doubles gold medallists of the recent Badminton World Championships with RM50,000 as a token of appreciation for bringing glory to the country. Making the moment more meaningful was the fact Jane Yeo, Toh’s mother, has been a Mamee employee (affectionately known as a Mamee Monstar) for the past 33 years.

Group CEO Pierre Pang said of Toh and Chen: “Their journey also mirrors Mamee’s core values which are integrity, intensity, innovation and involvement, comprising not just their fighting spirit on the ground but the many years of hard work and training, as well as their innovation to counter their opponents’ strategies and integrity, showing respect for the game, their competitors, their coach and all their unsung heroes in the background.”
“We are still so happy and can’t believe we managed to bring gold back to Malaysia,” says Chen.
Toh adds, “It was a very special day, for sure. As a Malaysian, knowing we were fighting for our country on Merdeka definitely gave us extra inspiration, courage and strength! We are so happy we did it!”
