Run to raise awareness of plastic pollution

The Ocean Hero Conservation Run seeks to conserve marine life.

Plastic pollution is a growing threat worldwide. 

Step out and do your part to create awareness of endangered marine mammals and their ocean environment at the Ocean Hero Conservation Run, which will be held at Sunsuria City Celebration Centre, Sepang, Selangor, on March 2.

The four-kilometre charity event, themed “Plastic-Free Ocean”, aims to educate people about plastic pollution, a growing threat worldwide, and protecting sustainable ecosystems as well as ecotourism. “We are glad to be part of the big vision once again. We were the venue sponsor for the Shark Hero Conservation Run 2017. Exercising and adopting environment-friendly practices is a continuous eff ort and are at the heart of our organisation,” says Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, executive chairman of Sunsuria Bhd.

The company is working with corporate partners and NGOs to hold road shows and workshops in support of the conservation mission. Activities will also be held on the day of the run, in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water. The organiser of the run, Blossomly Global, has pledged to donate RM5 from every participant’s registration fee to the Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia, MareCet, Tak Nak Straw and Sampah Menyampah.
