Hari Raya comes with the joy of donning new clothes, indulging in homecooked food in the company of friends as well as family, and of course — the cherry on top for any Raya celebration — receiving green packets.
Every year, companies give out green packets for free but the designs might not be very distinguishable. If you fancy the thought of customising your packets with specific texts, patterns or materials, opt for a bespoke service. Here are three printing presses for packets with a more personal and memorable touch.
Paper and Print KL
Paper and Print is not your traditional printing company. Set up by brothers Daniel and Andrew Tan, the contemporary digital and offset printing house seeks to carve out a niche in the printing industry by catering specifically to clients who are looking for artistic packaging or paper products without having to commit to a very high minimum order. Growing up in a family that have been in the printing business for almost 40 years, the brothers developed an eye for design and a wealth of creative knowledge. Send them your designs or browse through Paper and Print’s impressive Instagram portfolio if you need inspiration. You can either pick up your Raya packets in store or have them delivered to your doorstep.
32-1, Jalan PJU 1/3D, SunwayMas Commercial Centre, PJ. Mon-Fri, 9.30am-6.30pm. Call 03 7887 2111 or email [email protected] for more info.
The Alphabet Press (TAP)
Offset and digital printing are now the norm but TAP still holds a high regard for good ol’ letterpress techniques, a series of labour-intensive printing processes that require a dedicated level of craftsmanship. This Hari Raya, TAP’s packets come in green and brown with Malaysia’s most iconic architectural structures printed on a unique trapezoid packet with an embossed motif. Personalise the packets with your name so your recipients know the pretty ones are from you.
11 Jalan SS 26/8, PJ. Tues-Fri, by appointment only. Call 012 288 9921 or email [email protected] for more info.
Thistle Cards specialises in wedding-related stationery such as invitation cards, placecards, menus and — during festive seasons — money packets. Floral and nature have always been Thistle's predominant design theme but book a session with creative director and founder Joyce Loo to customise your packets. Check their website for a step-by-step consultation guide, from choosing your materials to finalising your ideas before production.
