The discerning globetrotter’s favourite lifestyle and accessories brand Tumi has finally touched down in China with the opening of its first flagship store at the iconic Shanghai Centre on Nanjing West Road.

“Tumi has always been about creating products that serve a purpose — design that adapts to the way people live, move and travel,” says creative director Victor Sanz. “This flagship is more than just a store; it is a space where people can really feel the intention behind what we do.”

The boutique’s exterior takes on a shimmering, undulating form crafted from metallic panels inspired by the 19 Degree design motif, to pair with the illuminated brand logo signage. This modern and sculptural look evokes the fluidity of travel.

The store is decked out with marble finishes and sleek metal shelving

Inside, marble finishes and sleek metal shelving define the space, providing a contemporary and fuss-free environment for clients to browse through the label’s offerings. A highlight exclusive to the boutique is its art installation space, currently displaying Journey by acclaimed Chinese sculptor Xu Fei. The piece is constructed from natural bamboo and analyses the intersection of movement, intention and form. Influenced by the cosmological ideas of “round heaven and square earth”, it represents Tumi’s ethos on how travelling is not just about the location you are bound for but also how you move through the world.

Beyond displaying Tumi’s full range of accessories, the store contains an open-concept VIP area where a curated selection of premium items is presented. Clients will also find an interactive material wall here, with which they can learn more about the brand’s cutting-edge medium innovation.
