This is perhaps the most exciting year for indie watch houses to date. Take French maison Sartory Billard, for example. It is making a splashing Asia debut through a partnership with Sincere Fine Watches, the manufacture’s exclusive retailer in Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

In honour of the milestone, both parties have come together to produce a special series of eight SB06 Flying Tourbillon SHH Editions, comprising two one-of-a-kind renditions for each of the four markets. No two designs are the same, though all feature a double-ended hour hand as a defining marker of the limited collection. A smiling solid-gold sun inhabits one side, while a crescent moon filled with Super-LumiNova takes up the other.

One of the two models inspired by Malaysia is the SB06 Flying Tourbillon Batik Aventurine SHH Edition. Drawing on the rich heritage and culture of the country’s textiles art, it is characterised by
hand-painted lilac and blue floral motifs at the heart of the dial. Black aventurine stone is used to craft the outer ring. The flying tourbillon is anchored at 6 o’clock, creating visual depth as well as technical enhancement. To match the purple hibiscus blooms on the façade, a lilac leather strap with a steel pin buckle is attached to the titanium case.

Another culturally significant material in Malaysia is jade, which is the key focus of the SB06 Flying Tourbillon Green Jade SHH Edition. At the centre of the dial sits a disc of the intense stone, its natural textures and alluring hue further emphasised by a deep green guilloché backdrop. Golden numerals and an emerald calfskin strap complete this enchanting piece.

Water-resistant to 50m, both watches are powered by the SBTV01 in-house movement with manual winding, offering 96-hour power reserve.
