In celebration of the Planet Ocean’s 20th anniversary, Swiss manufacture Omega proudly unveils the fourth generation of its intrepid collection, boldly redesigned with a contemporary new look and revolutionary technological enhancements.
Originally released in 2005 and modelled after the late 1950s’ Seamaster 300, the first Planet Ocean marked a significant milestone for the maison due to its staggering water resistance of up to 600m. This year’s updated series returns to that archival inspiration by basing its six marvels after the 1980s and 1990s Seamaster models, employing a fitted, angular approach most visible in the sculptural lugs and casebody. The pieces have also been reduced to 42mm, the size of the pioneering generation, forgoing the domed sapphire for a flatter, slimmer profile. The inner titanium ring and screw-in caseback promise unparalleled weight reduction and strength.

Eagle-eyed enthusiasts will undoubtedly notice a certain protrusion missing: the defining helium escape valve (the controversial feature regarded by many non-divers as a bothersome nub) has been entirely removed, meaning no more sleeve-snagging during civilian wear.
The timepieces are available in three bezel colours: black, blue and the collection’s iconic orange. These can each be paired with a steel bracelet or black rubber strap, while the last includes a matching orange strap. All feature a matte black dial, punctuated by arrowhead hands and applied indices filled with Super-LumiNova for superior legibility, plus openworked Arabic numerals. The date indicator has been foregone for a sleeker visual effect.
These trailblazing tickers are powered by the Metas-approved Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912, previously used in the Ultra Deep references, offering exceptional precision performance and a 60-hour power reserve.
