To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Officine Panerai’s Luminor collection, named for the luminescent substance first patented in the middle of the last century and an enduring signature of the brand, the Italian-Swiss manufacture has unveiled a new, boutique-only release: the Platinumtech Luminor Marina (PAM01116).

Identifiable by its case and dial layout, the watch stands out for the unique, super-tough alloy it is made of — Platinumtech, which is reformulated and perfected by the Panerai Laboratorio di Idee. Harder than conventional platinum, it was selected to endow the watch with greater resilience, even though it is harder to work with and polish.

Masterful aesthetics have been matched with refined, high-performance mechanics furnished by the self-winding Calibre P.9010, which has a three-day power reserve and features a rapid adjustment system that can move the hour hand forward or backward in increments of one hour, independent of the minute hand.

Limited to just 70 pieces worldwide exclusively at Panerai boutiques, the brand will provide customers with services to keep the watch functioning perfectly, free of charge, during its exceptional warranty term of 70 years.
