In 1963, the ground-breaking TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph and Porsche’s most powerful Carrera engine united watchmaker and carmaker for the first time in the spirit of the carrera (Spanish for race), which embodied ambition, speed and technical excellence.
The two giants in their fields come together again in the 21st century to reaffirm their historical relationship, formalising an alliance between partners with a shared passion for motorsport and racing.
This year will feature a rich portfolio of joint projects that reflect TAG Heuer’s and Porsche’s shared commitment to speed and precision sports, and will start with the new Carrera Porsche Chronograph.
Porsche’s colours of red, black and grey — which also recall historic TAG Heuer models — are incorporated throughout the watch, and on clear display through the transparent caseback is the oscillating mass redesigned in an affectionate tribute to Porsche’s celebrated steering wheel.
The watch is powered by the in-house calibre Heuer 02 movement, shielded by an asphalt-effect dial that expresses a passion for the road while Arabic numerals suggest the numbers on the dashboard of fine Porsche sports cars.
The Carrera Porsche Chronograph is finished with a luxurious calf leather strap with stitching that echoes the carmaker’s interiors or on an interlocking bracelet reflecting streamlined racing design. To complete the ownership experience, the watch is delivered in bespoke packaging with colours and a style consistent with the remarkable timepiece it contains.
