Malaysian author Hanna Alkaf — whose previous works include The Weight of Our Sky and The Girl and the Ghost — has published her latest novel, Queen of the Tiles. This young adult mystery follows Najwa Bakri, who thinks entering a Scrabble competition might distract her from the grief that has engulfed her since the death of her best friend, Trina Low. With Low, the Scrabble Queen, no longer around, the other competitors are fighting to claim the throne.

When cryptic messages begin appearing on Low’s inactive Instagram account, Najwa wonders if her friend had died under suspicious circumstances and perhaps a competitor could have been responsible. Will the truth come to light? Queen of the Tiles is a thrilling tale with both suspense and mystery.
