In commemorating 130 years of New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the National Gallery of Victoria is hosting a major exhibition featuring more than 200 works from the iconic modern and contemporary art museum.

It marks the largest instalment of the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces series to date, and will feature works from six curatorial departments: Architecture and Design; Drawings and Prints; Film; Media and Performance Art; Painting and Sculpture; and Photography. Among the works to be displayed — some of which have never been seen in Australia — are those by renowned 19th and 20th-century artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Georgia O’Keeffe, Diane Arbus and Andy Warhol.

There will also be a section dedicated to 21st-century artists, including Jeff Koons, Olafur Eliasson, Andreas Gursky, Rineke Dijkstra, Mona Hatoum and Cindy Sherman. The exhibition runs until Oct 7. Visit www.ngv.vic.gov.au for details.
