Louis Vuitton’s collaboration with Takashi Murakami has always been about transformation and innovation. Blending nostalgia with modern trends, the acclaimed artist — whose works are heavily influenced by anime, manga and traditional Japanese painting — has been reimagining some of the maison’s iconic designs with vibrant and quirky elements for the past 20 years.
After Superflat Panda, Monogram Multicolore and cherry blossom, Murakami is now exploring cherries in the third and final chapter of their re-edition collection. Featuring more than 70 pieces — from bags and silk scarves to footwear and lifestyle objects such as hand fans and porcelains — the range is whimsical and delightful.
The products are emblazoned with Murakami’s signature smiling cherry motif — a nod to a bright and energetic summer — using advanced multi-step serigraphy, 3D printing and artisanal applications. Items in white-base Monogram provide a clean canvas for the pattern to stand out, while the brown Monogram feels refreshing, with additional playful embellishments.
Beloved silhouettes such as the Speedy, Alma and Side Trunk stun with 3D cherries all over. Presented in two iterations, Capucines sport a more sophisticated style — one catches the eye with its striking shade of red, complete with a metallic cherry charm; the other is a classic crafted from rattan and finished with Monogram denim and a red cowhide leather top handle. Collectibles including a bike and deck chair are produced in limited quantities.
