In honour of Swarovski’s 130th anniversary, the Austrian crystal and jewellery manufacturer is set to unveil its historic Masters of Light exhibition in Shanghai this month where the brand’s most impressive work will be on display. The presentation will spotlight the maison’s rich history as a visionary force in the global jewellery industry and its powerful presence in modern fashion and pop culture. As suggested by the title, this showcase will delve into the house’s prowess and deft artistry that has resulted in its reputation as a leader in the realm of high-end finery. The location choice of the Chinese metropolis that celebrates both traditions of the past and futuristic innovations, is a paragon of Swarovski’s advancement through the years.
Visitors will be able to view an exquisite display of haute couture masterpieces and never-before-seen red carpet outfits and stage costumes, many selected from the impressive Swarovski Heritage Collection. In addition, the exhibition pulls back the curtain on the jeweller’s expert gem production, from cut to colour, that makes Swarovski Created Diamonds the pride of the brand.
The event draws the public’s eye to the three pillars that have long stood at the core of the maison’s identity and exceptional skill: Swarovski’s Austrian background; its indelible savoir-faire passed down through generations of designers; and its influence on the arts and media.
Above all, the show salutes the label’s ability to channel light and beauty through its trade and the dazzling future that is to come.
The Masters of Light exhibition will run from Sept 20 to Oct 9 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai.
