Often described as the “Oscars of watchmaking”, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) has unveiled the official shortlist for its landmark 25th edition. From 302 submissions representing 184 brands, 84 watches and six clocks have been selected by the GPHG Academy — an international network of more than 1,000 industry experts. These 90 nominees, divided into 15 categories, will now vie for 20 prizes, including the highly coveted Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix.
Competing timepieces in the ladies’ category include Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Mini Frosted Gold Quartz and Piaget’s Sixtie. Meanwhile, the men’s shortlist includes Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive UFA, Zenith’s GFJ Calibre 135 and Laurent Ferrier’s Classic Auto Horizon. The iconic category sees timepieces such as the Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti, Breguet’s Classique Souscription 2025 and Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante by Parmigiani Fleurier gunning for the top spot.

Ahead of the awards ceremony on Nov 13 in Geneva, the nominated novelties will go on a world tour starting in Shanghai, hosted by Hantang Culture during Golden Week from Sept 29 to Oct 8. The exhibition will then travel to Istanbul, where Turkish fashion group Vakko will stage the showcase on the banks of the Bosphorus from Oct 15 to 20.
The Musée d’Art et d’Histoire in Geneva will present the watches from Oct 29 to Nov 16, accompanied by cultural programmes for the public and schools. Finally, Dubai Watch Week will welcome the winners from Nov 19 to 23, offering Middle Eastern collectors the first opportunity to see the newly crowned icons.
As GPHG marks its silver jubilee, the event not only celebrates the innovation of Swiss watchmaking but also highlights the foundation’s enduring cultural resonance across borders, offering enthusiasts an unparalleled glimpse into contemporary horology.
