Pride & Prejudice — Solo Exhibition by Najib Ahmad Bamadhaj
“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.” Such is the opening sentence to the massively popular novel by Jane Austen. Pride & Prejudice, Najib Ahmad Bamadhaj’s solo exhibition, is an intersection of visual art and literature. Inspired by the classic novel and subsequent film adaptations, the artist translates the characters’ expressions and each of their traits into his artworks, but with a twist.

Taksu KL, 17 Jalan Pawang, KL. Until Oct 17. For more info, see here.

Hummer: A Solo Exhibition by Cassielelolea
In her first solo exhibition, self-taught artist Cassielelolea will present a series of nine impasto-style oil paintings of hummingbirds. Painted on stained wooden palettes, these unique artworks feature an array of vibrant hummingbirds, each painted in thick and bold brushstrokes, leaving an uneven texture on which light and shadow are brought into play. This showcase is a reflection of the artist’s own long-term struggle in her artistic career, balancing between her professional day job and being a freelance artist.

Putticoop, The Zhongshan Building, 80C Jalan Rotan, Kampung Attap, KL. Until Oct 31. By appointment only. Call 018 280 4683 to book.
